Meet Cliff Hutchins

I've lived in the Durango area since 1985 and have been in the building trades much of my life, mainly as a carpenter but with a wide range of experience in many facets of construction.

I started Quality Inspection Service in 2000. As of today, I have completed over 3,400 inspections on residential and commercial properties — including large and small homes, duplexes, fourplexes, multi-unit apartment buildings, hotels, restaurants, and various commercial buildings.

Structure types I've inspected include log, adobe, straw bale, earth ship, steel, and conventional frame construction.

Building Trades Expert

Extensive experience in carpentry, foundations, roofing, insulation, drywall, plumbing, and electrical work — from new construction to major remodels.

Certified & Trained

Courses in mold and asbestos detection, EPA radon testing certification, building sciences, commercial electrical inspection, and Level One Thermography.

Fully Insured

Errors and Omissions and Commercial Liability Insurance, adhering to the International Standards of Practice for Performing a General Home Inspection.

Custom Report System

In 2011, I created a new report system that is unique to my company, based on input from clients, sellers, and real estate agents. This occasionally updated report system is streamlined, easy to understand and to the point, with no redundant information.

My typical report is about 16 to 20 pages. I am always available to answer any questions and address any concerns from anyone involved. My goal is to make my part of the process as smooth and uneventful as possible.
